Very decorative hand made in a traditional style ochre color clay glazed and incised african tribal wall mask. Nice bright colors of blue, red, white and black with the light brown face nicely textured. It is marked "Dining, APAN, Zaïre 91" at the back. Very nice and decorative example of a modern glazed african tribal mask.
All Partners Access Network (APAN), formerly called Asia-Pacific Area Network, is a United States Department of Defense (USDOD) organization for international cooperation and sharing of information. The Republic of Zaire was the name of a sovereign state between 1971 and 1997 that is now known as the Democratic Republic of Congo and this 1991 mask is from a troubled period of its history.

Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Incised mark at the back and V-shape notch for wall hanging.
